The Peugeot Bipper Tepee Outdoor

Peugeot Press Release
March 2009

A city adventurer ready for the countryside.

The Bipper Tepee is a member of Peugeot’s Multispace family. Practical, easy to handle, compact and economic, it offers unrivalled versatility in use.

It has 5 seats, a generous load capacity, low fuel consumption enabling it to benefit from the new ‘green’ road tax rates (4.5 litres/100 km and 119 g/km CO2 with the 1.4 litre HDi 70 bhp engine) and compact dimensions (length 3.97 m).

Its innovative, friendly and dynamic style will appeal to young city dwellers in search of a car that has multiple uses and is a little non-conformist, clever and frugal.

To accentuate its playful character even more, the Bipper Tepee range welcomes a new version, called the Outdoor.

The name Outdoor is already used across the Peugeot range (it is already associated with the new Partner). It is featured again here to characterise a model with a personalised style, aimed at those who like to get the very most from their day to day activities and leisure pursuits.

This new version of the Bipper Tepee stands out by its specific exterior style that empasises the no-nonsense character of this versatile vehicle.

An original and stylish tailgate underlines the model’s bold design. The Lion emblem, positioned very prominently on the centre circle of the tailgate, is highlighted by an elegant asymmetrical black capping. The latter ensures the transition between the glazed surface of the upper section and the lower part of the tailgate, a kaleidoscope of curves echoes the styling of the car’s wings and sills. This is the signature of the Bipper Tepee Outdoor.

This new version has rear quarter panel windows that extend naturally from the rear windows. The resulting dynamic shape accentuates the impression of motion created by the car’s flanks. All five passengers seated comfortably inside the car benefit from a special Trip cloth interior which also covers the door panels.

On the outside, this new model stands out also by a ground clearance raised by 15 mm, reinforced peripheral body-colour protective mouldings (wide side protectors and specific body sills) and a “Lion” grey painted protective plate under the engine.

With this look, the Bipper Tepee Outdoor clearly shows its taste for adventure or leisure pursuits, while still retaining its clever and practical character.

Indeed its two sliding side doors and its 2/3 – 1/3 folding rear bench seat with head restraints, specific to this level of finish, give it a greatly appreciated modularity.

Similarly, the generous load capacity ranging from 356 litres under the parcel shelf to 884 litres to the top of the seat back with the rear seats folded, can be put to multiple uses, whether for leisure or family activities. This capacity can even be extended to 2500 litres if the rear seat is removed! With an effective height inside the load area of 1.18 m, and a length of up to 1.60 m, a great many bulky items can be loaded inside the car.

In addition, the rectangular shape of the tailgate facilitates access to the load area, as does the low load sill located only 544 mm above the ground.

For more demanding users, asymmetrical hinged rear doors opening to a wide angle (180°) are available as an option.

For comfortable driving both in town and off the beaten track, the Bipper Tepee Outdoor is available with a five speed manual gearbox on the 1.4 litre 54 kW (75 bhp) petrol engine and 1.4 litre HDi 50 kW (70 bhp) diesel engine. An electronically controlled gearbox is also available on the diesel version.

To confirm the low running costs and “green” credentials, the 1.4 litre HDi 70 bhp versions offer a class leading level of emissions of only 119 g/km of CO2 and a combined cycle fuel consumption of just 4.5 litres/100 km.

With its personalised and assertive style, its practicality, its low running costs and its versatility, the Bipper Tepee Outdoor represents an original and environmentally-friendly offer for intrepid city dwellers in search of adventure.

The Bipper Tepee Outdoor will go on sale from 15 March according to markets.
